Quiz day! Next week - the Roaring '20s!
We reviewed for the quiz tomorrow. The review sheet is below.
To wrap up the WWI unit, we looked at the peace process.
Students first examined Wilson's proposal for a peace - the Fourteen Points. Using p. 37-39 of their binder, students worked to decode and reword. Then, students looked at the actual treaty (the Treaty of Versailles) and used p. 40 to take note of what was in it. Students were also given time to work on their core assignments, which are due tomorrow. Today's class was divided in two parts. Part one was devoted to discussing changes in WWI technology/weaponry and the impact it had on the war itself. The video below approximates our discussion (students did not take notes). The second part of class was spent investigating and writing down some notes on the WWI home front. Page 36 in the binder was used for this. Core Assignment 4.1 was also handed out today - it is due on Thursday.
Today's first topic of discussion was the how and why the United States joined WWI. If absent, please view the notes video below. USE THE SHEET ATTACHED HERE FOR NOTES - YOUR BINDER IS INCORRECT (my error). We also discussed propaganda by examining WWI-era posters and creating one from scratch.
After finishing the notes from yesterday, students worked on a WWI map (p. 33 in the binder) that shows the geographic disadvantage Germany faced during the war. Students also viewed the first 30 minutes of the video below in an attempt to communicate the horrors of war. After taking the Progressivism/Imperialism quiz, we started right in on examining the causes of WWI. Students used notes sheets in their binder (p. 29-32) to write down information based on the PowerPoint below. |
