Today is the last project work day before it's due date on Thursday.
We examined pop culture of the 1920s, 1950s, 1980s, and today. A discussion followed.
Students examined both the Iran-Contra Affair (and compared it to Watergate) and the fall of the USSR. There are pages in the binder for each of these activities.
The focus today was Reagan's political and economic goals, as well as social and news events of the 1980s. A page of the binder was used to gather and organize information on the first topic, while the video below was used for the second. Students were afforded an opportunity to make additional progress on their Quarter 2 projects.
We focused today on 1970s politics and society. First, students read about some of the domestic and foreign policies of President Carter. A discussion followed. Next, we watched a video from The Century series about social and economic facets of the era. That video can be found below. We looked at the Watergate scandal today. In their binders, students worked on a Comic Story on the scandal. Each box was based on the following elements of the story: 1) Break In, 2) Woodward and Bernstein, 3) Alexander Butterfield, 4) Saturday Night Massacre, 5) Spring 1974 - Tape Transcripts, and 6) Resignation.
Today was the first opportunity to work on the Quarter 2 project.
Today students looked at the domestic and foreign policies of President Nixon. They used the "Nixon Day 1" sheet in their binders. If absent, please complete this sheet.
